Review: Encountering Christ in the Eucharist: The Paschal Mystery in People, Word, and Sacrament

Encountering Christ in the Eucharist: The Paschal Mystery in People, Word, and SacramentEncountering Christ in the Eucharist: The Paschal Mystery in People, Word, and Sacrament by Bruce T. Morrill
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This book is an accessible and well written exposition of the four-fold presence of Christ in the celebration of Eucharist – in the Assembly, in the Word proclaimed, in the Priest-Presider, and in the Eucharistic bread and wine – written in the hope that it might allow for the participants in the celebration of the Eucharistic liturgy to encounter Christ more readily and more deeply.

Morrill’s insights are well worth reading, drawing on both historical and theological sources, yet presented in a way that is engaging and enjoyable…and which is, I guess, the purpose of his work.

Highly recommended to anyone who would like to deepen their understanding of the presence of Christ in the Eucharistic liturgy, and who seeks to draw ever closer to Christ.
