The Heart of Prayer

Your heart never takes a vacation, never goes on coffee break, never gets a sabbatical. It beats day and night. And every beat, every contraction of your heart muscles, is your body saying yes to life. With every beat, blood surges forth from the heart, bringing oxygen and nourishment throughout the body. The beating heart, in concert with breathing lungs and flowing blood, form a continual rhythm of life that blesses every moment of our days, from birth to death. And the heart is at the center of it all. Indeed, I would go so far as to say that every single beat of the heart is a prayer, an affirmation of life, a way of saying yes to life and to God, the giver of life.
