Review: Mary: Woman and Mother

Mary: Woman and MotherMary: Woman and Mother by Francis J. Moloney
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

As you might expect from a scholar of the calibre of Frank Moloney, this book provides a wonderful exposition of the scriptural witness to Mary. Very highly recommended for those who want to know more about the place of Mary in Christian thought.

From the back cover:

In Mary, Woman and Mother Father Francis Moloney studies the New Testament’s presentation of Mary’s person and role. After indicating the limits and strengths of a biblical study of Mary, he examines the Marian texts from the Letter of Paul to the Galatians, the Gospels of Mark, Matthew, and Luke, the Acts of the Apostles, and the Gospel of John. She is above all a woman and a mother. This book shows that in recognizing Mary as God’s place of encounter with all that is most beautiful among women and men, we will gain access to the womanly, maternal face of God.
