I first came across the great stories of Greek mythology – the story of gods, goddesses, demi-gods, and heroes – in primary school, when the book club featured a book that had that very title. Clearly, this is something I share with Stephen Fry because in this book he retells the great stories of Greek mythology in a new and refreshing way.
It was enjoyable to revisit, admittedly in a manner that I’ve not encountered before, these stories from my youth, stories that the ancient Greeks used to make sense of the world around them.
As I’ve mentioned, Fry’s writing style makes this a most amusing book to read while communicating his clear passion for the subject of classical Greek mythology. I enjoyed reading it, and highly recommend it.
