Review: The Silver Pigs

The Silver Pigs (Marcus Didius Falco, #1)The Silver Pigs by Lindsey Davis
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The modern ‘gumshoe detective’ genre meets ancient Rome, and the result is an engaging tale that captures the imagination of the reader and draws them into the lives of the characters.

I was originally drawn to read it because of the novel’s setting in the Roman Empire, but I’ll be following the series from here on in because of the strength of the characters that have already developed. Lindsey Davis has done a marvellous job in capturing the attention of the reading via this character development which is joined to a very engaging narrative style.

I look forward to the next edition of the series.
