Homilies: 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year B

My homily for the 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year B, as preached during the 9.30am live-streamed Mass from Sacred Heart Cathedral, Hamilton.

The readings proclaimed were 1 Kings 17:10-16; Hebrews 9:24-28; Mark 12:38-44.

“The two small coins of the widow represent all she possesses, given over for God’s purpose with trust in God’s faithfulness and generosity in response. The actions of the widow are also symbolic of a subverted religious structure and system represented by the scribes who use their positions for their own aggrandisement rather than for the worship of God.”
