Homilies: Second Sunday of Advent, Year C

My homily for the Second Sunday of Advent, Year C, preached during the 9.30am Mass from Sacred Heart Cathedral, Hamilton.

The readings proclaimed were Baruch 5:1-9; Philippians 1:4-6, 8-11; Luke 3:1-6.

“Advent is the season where we have the opportunity – in this time and in this place – to open ourselves to God’s action in our lives so that those things that inhibit our ability to welcome the Second Coming of Jesus can be ‘laid low, raised up, straightened, and made smooth’. It is not simply a spiritual exercise, but an exercise firmly situated in reality, in the here and now”.
